Jamie’s Story:

After her freshman year of college at Texas State, Jamie decided she would become an RA in the dorms. Unfortunately she got assigned to Hornsby/Burleson … the only non-air conditioned dorm at Texas State. She was definitely not excited about this considering it was August and 100+ degrees outside.
August 22, 2002 she was still unhappy with her job assignment but was walking around the halls doing maintenance.

As she began to meet many new residents she ran into something that made her change her mind about this place.
This really cute boy had just got finished moving in and was wearing only a pair of shorts!

PHEW!!

She (always friendly) was making short conversation. Caleb (always hungry) invited himself back to her room for some snacks! The dining halls were not opened yet. Maybe he wasn’t really interested in the food??
A few hours later, they find the food had nothing to do with anything and there was an obvious chemistry from the get go!

Caleb’s Story:

After his freshman year of college at Texas State, Caleb is back in the dorms at Hornsby/Burleson for his second year. He had just finished moving box after box up two flights of stairs in 100+ degree August heat. He wasn’t really looking forward to the long days with his full time job and 15 hours of school.Then something made everything seem like it would be a better year.

This beautiful girl was walking around the dorm doing maintenance. No other RA did maintenance reports… was this a gift from God?

After a short introduction, Caleb tries to figure out a way to continue this interaction. He asks her if the dining halls are open. Knowing they are not, he hopes she will have a better solution. Jamie says she has some food in her room and wouldn’t mind sharing. He gladly accepts the offer and says he will come down later. Score!

Caleb puts some clothes on and walks over to her room hoping she will be there waiting. Surely she was and they began talking. Hours later they realize how the time had flew. There was an immediate connection.

The Result:

Many road trips, football games, poker nights, intramurals, intramural championships, B.A’s, graduations, weddings and five and a half years later Caleb takes Jamie to the Melting Pot for “dessert” and some dessert it was … forever!!

June 11, 2008 they were engaged and ready to be together forever!
